Going To The Douglas County Fair

Image
Every beginning of August, there’s a place that I always love going to when I was a kid. This place is the Douglas County Fair. I’ll never forget my first time I went there with my family. We went on all the rides, go down the fun slide, ate some foods, and had a great time. The first time I went was with my mom and dad. My folks really loved it, especially the farm animals in the showcase. It was in the beginning of August and almost the end of July, the day we went there. It was a really fun time to enjoy it for the very first time. If I could reminisce the second time I went there, it would be my dad and I. We would hang out together, go to the fair and do the same thing we did like last year. Oh, and there’s also this thing that I almost forgot to mention earlier. There’s live entertainment. There’s even games, prizes, airbrushed shirts, and plenty more to think of. In the future, I will plan on going back there for old time’s sake. That other time was when I took my stepsist...

The Roller Skating Rink

Image
Okay, before I start this next story. I wanna remind you that we’re on our way to the 50th blog entry. So keep your eyes peeled. Now, on with the show! There's this place that I went to when I was a kid. It was in Topeka and located at 815 SW Fairlawn Rd. That was when I went there during my school year at Cordley. That place is called Sk8away. That place was the greatest in the Topeka area. I remember my first time going there, and it was when I first learned how to roller skate. Somehow, I had a lot of trouble doing that. But in the future, I might be able to learn how to roller skate. The one other thing that I haven't tried in years was Heelys. The shoes with the wheels built in. That would be really cool for me to wear on a daily basis. If I were to learn how to use those, I'd roll anywhere in the neighborhood including downtown Lawrence. I would even learn how to roll with my Heelys here at the roller skating rink in Topeka. Anyway, the first time I went there was t...

Let’s Go Busker! [Plus, an update…]

Image
Ladies and gentlemen… may I introduce to you, the story about The Lawrence Busker Festival. That’s right, folks. It’s a  once-a-year-get-weird-weekend where you will find unusual entertainment all over historic downtown Lawrence. It happens every year in the month of May. It’s where you can  celebrate with a roster of street performers from all around the world. Magicians, jugglers, musicians, acrobats, and more will perform. It’s a full-on festival with food, libations, and fun around every corner. When was the first time I went there? Well it was the time I was at the library of course! I’ll never forget the time I once went there with my friend Stephanie. She and I had a really great time there. I even got my very own wax sculpture of my hand. I chose the peace sign though. It was off the hook, and I really hope that I’ll get to check out the Busker festival again once I come back to Lawrence. One time I went there, and I got to see Bongo Barry to perform outside. He...

Let's Get Physical!

Image
Ready to get fit? Good luck every Sunday, and remember, have fun with it! Every Sunday night at 6:30, I go to Lawrence Gymnastics Academy and start a workout in fitness and fun with some friends here at the gym. I've met some good people here. First of all, I met Jason and Sam. They're both instructors of the parkour crew. I like to call them the parkour duo. They're  passionate about fitness and health and found parkour to be a great way to include fitness into your life without competition, team commitment or bordem. The reason I came here to LGA is to get some exercise, play around, have fun, get active, and get fit. I also met Isaac, Randy, and other friends too here at LGA. And we got together and played around the room. I really enjoy jumping on the trampolines and playing around on the foam pit. And the next time I come back once again, I'm coming back to get some exercise with Sam and Jason. I'm sure they'll be very happy to see me again. Whenever I go t...

Going To The Douglas County Fair (…again)

Image
For the first time in Kansas history, my family and I got to go to the place where the carnival and farm is located. Three words: The Douglas County Fair Located at 2120 Harper St. We had a lot of fun at the fair together when I was a kid. I went there to try the carnival rides, played games, and had some food there. There’s even a funhouse with mirrors in them. I even got to go on the Fun Slide. When I go on, I get to the top of the slide and I imagine like I’m going down the hill on a sled or perhaps going down the water slide by the pool. The next ride I went on to was the Top Gun. When I got on, I was feeling my heart beat. And when the ride went on, I was screaming for my life while the ride was spinning counter clockwise. Boy was I thrilled! Another ride the I went on to was the Zendar ride. This ride was really making me dizzy, I couldn’t get outta here. I was trapped like I was set on hyperdrive. Well, at least I had a great time there. My hands were shaking a bit due to ...
