Let’s Go Busker! [Plus, an update…]
Ladies and gentlemen… may I introduce to you, the story about The Lawrence Busker Festival.
That’s right, folks. It’s a once-a-year-get-weird-weekend where you will find unusual entertainment all over historic downtown Lawrence. It happens every year in the month of May. It’s where you can celebrate with a roster of street performers from all around the world. Magicians, jugglers, musicians, acrobats, and more will perform. It’s a full-on festival with food, libations, and fun around every corner.
When was the first time I went there? Well it was the time I was at the library of course! I’ll never forget the time I once went there with my friend Stephanie. She and I had a really great time there. I even got my very own wax sculpture of my hand. I chose the peace sign though. It was off the hook, and I really hope that I’ll get to check out the Busker festival again once I come back to Lawrence.
One time I went there, and I got to see Bongo Barry to perform outside. He performed a song about bananas, because it had no bones! That song really cracked me up! Even though he’s no longer with us, he’s still with us in our hearts.
The next performance was those cool dudes on pogo sticks. They were flying high on those pogo sticks bouncing around to the ground and back up in the air again! I even got to see some breakdancers getting down on the dance floor. Those guys were incredibly cool! As for these youngsters, they like to get down! BOOM!
When I’m thinking of planning of going to the busker festival, I wanna do something funny for them like putting together a funny outdoor puppet show for the kids. Also maybe I can be interested in some magic using playing cards…I think. But my choice for when I join the busker fest is definitely an outdoor puppet show. In order to do that, I’m gonna need a little help from a friend who’s also one of my favorite teachers I know from school. Mrs. Orth-Lopes!
Glad you’d ask. How does it work? Well, I entertain the kids at Cordley with a little puppet show in kindergarten with my bee puppet. And I tell you, Buzzy and I were a hit here at school, and kids love it. Now this one’s gonna be different and really funny. I’ll need to come up with an idea for an outdoor puppet show. I might even need another puppet friend. And that is Rocky Fox. I’ll bet he can sing the blues and a little rock and roll. He might even do a little duet with Steve Mason on the classic song “Pie”. (Which you already knew.)
Another idea for a puppet show is one with a custom Jayhawk puppet. He might even join my show on YouTube, and also be a part of Lawrence Kansas’s new public television station.
I’ll see what update I have on my puppet ideas later on.
I also wanna consider maybe selling my artwork at the festival too. That would be really appreciated if I’d do that!
My next idea for when I attend the Lawrence Busker Festival will be a choice between street performing and comedy outdoors. That show is called “Dance Party Laughs”. Or maybe I can be a DJ for a special Busker Festival block party for downtown. I’d make a great DJ, cause I can get the time to play my favorite music and the songs I really like to listen to and jam out to. I’m sure they won’t mind before summer starts. It would be really nice if I’d do that!
Okay, before I continue, it's time for my Lawrence Kansas update.
I have a couple new choices of where to find a condo somewhere in downtown Lawrence. Here are some info about the condo locations.
1764 W 4th St.
When you look at this location, there's condos here from left to right. My dad said that I should consider living in a condo on ground floor. In my condo, I want yet more room for my TV, the kitchen, and plenty of room for my bathroom and bedroom. Plus, a patio of my own too. More on that coming up later. That will mean that I can live really close to where Eric & Jill live, 333 California St.
1424 Eddingham Dr
1542 W 24th St
We'll bring you more updates on what's next in Lawrence Kansas as it develops. And now, back to my story.
Anyway, my next idea for when I can attend the next Busker Festival in Lawrence is one of my next ideas I've been wanting to do here. That is joining in a music jam with Musicians Pitch.
There's plenty of time left until the next year comes to join in at the Lawrence Busker Festival whenever I come back. So if you'd like to help me out with some ideas for me joining the festival sometime soon, let me know on the comments on my blog and on Facebook where you can find me at 'The Lawrence Kansas Club'.
The Buskers are back! But for me, that's probably it for now.
So check back later for more updates on all things Lawrence Kansas has in store.
Keep it here!
