Worlds & Oceans of Fun
Okay folks, here's something that I'd thought you'll remember. It was the first time that I remember going to when I was a kid, this time here in Kansas City. The first time I went to Worlds of Fun as a world of...well, fun! My family and I went there the first time went we were going somewhere during a mini-vacation.
It a family friendly park here in Kansas City that I first went to. Remember that?!
I'll never forget that first time there. I went on those rollercoaster rides, and enjoyed the Sea Dragon, rode the Spinning Dragons, all that stuff! We even checked out Cyclone Sam's ride, it really made me dizzy! The special effects and the lights flashing! Yikes! We even got to see Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang in person while we were strolling around the park. I even went on the slide for that one. One of the rollercoasters I tried was the Timber Wolf. And when it went down really fast, I held my breath as I screamed! I went on with my dad though. The funniest part of that is when his glasses flew out of his face. LOL! …and oops.
Oh, and there's also this white water raft ride called Fury of the Nile which I already knew about. Anyway, it was my first time riding that thing too. Why? Because my family and I got really wet on that ride. And it was totally worth it. You know something, this ride reminds me of the time I got on the raft ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom during vacation with my family and relatives. That was cool too.
That second time was when I went there for a special school trip before summer break. It was me, Julie Randtke, Ben Mugridge, Mrs. Norris, Mr. Andrew, and my friends from the Resource Room. We had plenty of fun and went on those rides that we love to go on, I finally even got to go on the Mamba for the very first time. And before you know it as we all got down really fast, I even got my picture taken during the ride. After that, we all got together for something to eat there. There was this diner that played oldies music there. It was themed like in a 1950s and played a song by The Beatles. Maybe I got myself some Dippin Dots, I don’t know. But at least I had fun there. WOW! I’ll never forget that second time there.
My next trip for the very first time was Oceans of Fun. It was themed just like when you’re at the beach catching waves and surfing in one of those wave pools just like the ones in Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World…which I really dig. The waterslides were amazing, the wave pool is just exciting, and the Caribbean Cooler is just WOW! (Relaxing…) The first time I there was with my family and we all enjoyed a little cooling off during the summer. It was fun! And I hope that I’ll go there again. It was kinda like that time I also went to Schlitterbahn with my dad for the very first time. The second or third time at Oceans of Fun was when I was with my dad or maybe my friend Stephanie. I’ll have to think about that.
But when I plan on going to Oceans of Fun for the summer, I’ll be doing the things I love doing since the first time there. And who knows, maybe I can bring my friends there like the Fitzmorris family, Stephanie and David, or maybe my Best Buddy.
It was a great time coming to Worlds and Oceans of Fun here in Kansas City and I hope that I’ll get to do this again for many years to come, just like when I go to Disney World with my family.
One of my favorite rides were the Timber Wolf before riding the Mamba.
And the reason I’m thinking of going to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun once again is that I remember the rides that my family first went on, and the second time I went there with my school. The second time was with Free State High School when I was young. I’ll bet Mr. Andrew and the rest will remember that once I’m finally back. I’ll ask what it was like when we went there before summer break.
You know, Worlds of Fun is like a family adventure. In fact, the Peanuts gang is there too, including Charlie Brown. Good grief! If I could visit Worlds of Fun, I could meet up with the Peanuts gang and dance with Snoopy to Linus and Lucy.
I'll bet they'll be happy to see me too though. Fun fact is that the location at Worlds of Fun to see them is at Planet Snoopy. If you have more info about it, maybe we can go on tour together during special dates and in Best Buddies events. Which reminds me, I wonder what Charlie Brown and his friends might do next.
Before I first went to Worlds of Fun, I once went to a carnival which was in town. I just found out by surprise that it was in town the first time during the start of a new millennium. It was somewhere at that location we went to. It was located for a special occasion right here in a parking lot at Iowa St, which was really interesting. Luckily, my family and I went there and I went on the rides and played a lot of carnival games. This is why I really love amusement parks.
And speaking of carnivals and amusement parks, I remember the first time I went to the school carnival here at Cordley Elementary School. It was outside at the school playground where it was located. My friends were there and so does my family. We got together, played some carnival games, and we went inside the bounce house to jump around. It was a lot of fun in the first place especially when it was in the fall season. There were also plenty of food there as I enjoyed it many times. I really enjoyed the snacks the most.
Anyways, if I wanted to take the entire school I went to for a special field trip to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun before the last day of the school year, I would take Lois Orth-Lopes and all my friends I know from Cordley as a huge school reunion tradition. Then we go back after this and have a special dance party just like old times. We would even find a place to camp out or a place to stay when we enter. In fact, I’d bring my puppet with me just as long as I’m extremely careful. I’d just wish there was a way to make my puppet character waterproof when it comes to white raft rides. Caution, you might get really wet. I’ll get to that when I talk to her about it later after I finally return.
Also if I’d like to take the entire school such as Cordley Elementary or Free State High School, I could take my favorite teachers and friends I know from school to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival at Bonner Springs between Labor Day or Columbus Day in mid-September or October. I’ll look into that later also.
So, I’ve come up with a solution for any of this when I’m finally back in Lawrence once again. All this and more real soon when more info is updated.
Okay, I think that’s it for today. If you like my new blog entry you’re reading right now, feel free to give me more info on some new ideas including this one. Also follow me at the Lawrence Kansas Club page on Facebook. Until next time, I’ll see you on the next Lawrence Kansas Monthly Blog.
