The Lied Center
And now, for tonight’s special presentation…at The Lied Center!
If you haven’t been to the Lied Center for a show yet, then let’s listen in.
This coming year, 2025 is packed with plenty of live shows and performances here at the Lied Center of KU. If I could pick a show to see here, I would choose Fraggle Rock. Like this one that on January 2025 next year. Ever since I watched the show on video, I was this little as a kid. My dad said to me yesterday that I’m sure that I can get the chance to see Fraggle Rock on stage next year when I’m in Lawrence.
True that.
Anyway to continue, I’m gonna be planning seeing a performance show in the upcoming summer or the fall season. Whichever one I choose. I’m not what’s going right now, but I’ll keep myself updated on what’s playing here at the Lied Center. If I could look for a show to watch at the KU Lied Center, I’d go see Lyle Lovett perform for example. You know just to be sure. If you have any ideas to come up with for a show, let me know in the comments below.
Now get this. One time I was at the Lied Center with my mom in the 90s, and we got to see The Magic School Bus live on stage. And guess what happened during that, there was a laser show with plenty of techno music and special effects! How cool is that!
Now during Best Buddies, I went to the Lied Center and got together with Dylan just to hang out. It was during Halloween when we got together while the others got to see a show. We both got ourselves some pizza. I was dressed up as a surfer dude and Dylan dressed up as a character with a mullet. I’m not sure but I’ll talk to Dylan about it when I update it.
I’ll never forget the time my school and I went down to the theater in Kansas City and saw Ramona Quincy on stage. It was very hilarious to see that performance, and I enjoyed it. Lois and I remember watching it too. It was extremely fun.
Especially the time I remember reading the books by Beverly Clearly.
Oh, and another thing I remember when I was in Cordley is also the time we all got together in Kansas City and saw Schoolhouse Rock Live on Stage! That was awesome too. The first time I saw that live show just like watching the video series on VHS is when I saw the cast including ‘Mr. S.’, and it was funny and incredibly awesome too. Why? Cause knowledge is power!
And I gotta tell you, that was a really exciting live show to see on stage when I was young. And by that time I first started watching Schoolhouse Rock on ABC every Saturday morning. I really enjoyed the series on video too. So there!
I couldn’t tell how long I’ve been waiting all these years for me to see a show here at the Lied Center…until now. When I’m finally back on Lawrence, like I said before. I’m gonna plan on seeing a show here at the KU Lied Center for a special time. So let me know in the comments below on Facebook and we’ll see what’s up.
Now, I wanna remind you that when it comes to seeing a show at the Lied Center, we gotta make sure we remember about the ticket info before showtime. You can learn more about ticket information at the KU Lied Center's website just to be sure. It'll help you out to make sure that would fit your budget.
Cause if you're planning on checking out a special event to watch here at the Lied Center, let me know what we can see when I come back to Lawrence. It might be something that I'd really like.
Before I saw a show for the first time at the Lied Center back in the day, my friend and I went to the St. John's school and saw Cinderella as a play. And by the time I saw that play, I was exciting to watch the whole "Bipidi-Bopiti-Boo" thing on stage. That is why I watched plenty of Disney films as a kid before I first went to Disney World.
Okay now we're getting somewhere. Here's something that I remember seeing at the Lied Center. That is, magic! I was watching a show at the Lied Center and someone did a little magic. And he told us a story about Harry Houdini and how he became a legend through his daring escapes. That was fun too. In fact, I'm still gonna have to keep practicing my magic skills in order to get it right. I'm still learning though, and I'm quite okay with that. If I could remember that time I learned magic, it was that time I was at El Nuevo Vallara in Bluffton and stopped there for some lunch. I remembered that time someone taught me to make the salt shaker disappear. I mean seriously, how did he just do that?! I had no idea! Cool trick!
Oh right, I almost forgot! There’s something that I remember doing last year and in 2022 while I was on vacation. It was when my family and I were on a cruise trip here at the Norwegian Star and we were watching a show at the Stardust Theater. I got to see performances from a famous juggler, some magic, and a musical piece about the music of Burt Bacharach.
And I gotta tell you about it right about now. These guys were incredible in those performances and I was blown away when I saw the entire thing. I really love the theater fog in these shows and the dancers too.
Anyway one other thing I wanna consider thinking. If there’s a performance here at the Lied Center for the summer schedule, let me know on that also.
Phew! I know it’s almost getting late, but we’re gonna wrap things up in this blog by saying that I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day. And if you like my new blog you're reading, let me know what you guys think and maybe we can get things planned for when we can watch a show there at the KU Lied Center. Cause to be honest with you, it's been awhile since I haven't been to the Lied Center in weeks, perhaps for years. And the time has come for me to do it again just like old times.
Well, that’s all for this week’s blog and it’s been a great year writing about it. So I have five months left before I’m finally back in Lawrence, and that means there’s plenty of time left for me to finish packing for the move. So let me know on some new suggestions and ideas for my next blog and we’ll see you next time on the Lawrence Kansas Monthly Blog. Have fun, take care, and have a happy new year!
