An Ode To Sebastian Alfie

This is another story I wanna share with you folks.

This is my ode to my music teacher Sebastian Alfie.

When I first met him at Cordley Elementary School, I first played the Casio musical keyboard when I was in the 1st or 2nd Grade. It was the first time I’ve ever  used the musical keyboard like the Casio. I really like it when I hear the drum set sounds, the funny sound effects, the electronic synthesizer sounds, and the chords along with the beats playing. That sounded totally audiophile-like!

I’ll never forget the time Sebastian and I recorded music for a homemade movie I made about a missing clipboard with Matthew Rogers. I feel like the music I make is a lot more experimental in my spare time, followed by at least in a professional way if you’d ask me. But at least it sounded really good. The way I make movie scores of my own on cassette tape makes me think about how avant-garde the sounds and notes feel like when I'm recording all this stuff on audio.

During the summer, Sebastian and I were coming over to his place so we can both hang out together. When I was relaxing, he and I were wondering "what should we do today" and I had this idea on maybe going over to the music hall where Sue Evans teaches music there, and we got to listen to some music, then play around with some musical instruments in the room. There was nobody there but the both of us here and we were gonna learn some good music on keyboard. I learn to play my musical scales, the chords, and even messed around with the beats played in it. It was really fun when I kept playing with the keyboard. I remember that time when I played 'Down Down Baby' as a song for the talent show. I played the Chicago Blues beat with it in the key of G, and I even got that from an episode of Gullah Gullah Island once.

Before that, I listened to that song from the show on cassette tape. By the time I listened to it, I was into to that idea to play that song for the school. And after that, it was something that everyone loved. I've thought about being a singer one day when I was young, and I got the skills to do that. End of story!

Now at the music room in Central Junior High during school hours, I got the chance to see Sebastian once again and work on some music and learn some scales. After that, I got to record some music on cassette tapes. I knew that I was gonna create my own music to come up with in my spare time during school. And what keyboard did I use in Central Junior High? Well, I once used the Roland JV-2080. It had a ton of sounds to choose from. The keyboard had the Flying Waltz, The Fantasia JV sound, Childlike, the Pop Drum Set, and there's even the Rave Drum sounds which is the one I really like! Those sounds really remind me of the house music and techno beats in the 1990s. Did you also know that the keyboard sounds were also used for sounds in an album by 2 Unlimited? It's also featured on Jock Jams!

The Rave drum set sound effects were also used in the PBS show ZOOM. Now you know on that one!

It was really fun for me and Sebastian to play some music on keyboard and for me to learn how to play music on it too. Thanks Sebastian for that though, I'll always remember this for the rest of my natural life! Rock on, dude!

I also remember that time I watched a video tape called The Music Video Album produced by Wood Knapp Video and VH1. We were watching music videos from the 1960s on one VHS tape and I really loved it. It really reminds me of Oldies 95.

Now here's something that I might suggest perhaps maybe another idea for when I'm back in Lawrence again. Do you think maybe we can meet together with Lois Orth-Lopes for lunch at The Mad Greek? Let me know and we'll talk on that. I would like to do that again. Now here's my next idea, what would it be like if i can help him out on his next music gig for his band. I'll help him out with some ideas for the next gig here in Lawrence, and maybe I can also help him out with new music for his band too. Won't that be fun? I think Sebastian would really like that a lot.

Here's a picture to prove it.

Now before I go, I just like to say that Sebastian is one of my favorite music teachers I've met in my life. And I will always remember the times I learned plenty of music on my keyboard. I feel really happy whenever I see you and hear from you.

And as always, I'd like to take this time to give you a big thank you for helping me out with my music education, including my singing and keyboard playing.

This is my story of appreciation I'm giving to you, and a big shout out to you my friend.

So anyway that's it for this next story, check back later for more on the way. Folks, if you like my blog entry I made, let me know on some new ideas for my next blog entry real soon. Check you folks later and have a nice day. Peace!
