The Lied Center

And now, for tonight’s special presentation…at The Lied Center! If you haven’t been to the Lied Center for a show yet, then let’s listen in. This coming year, 2025 is packed with plenty of live shows and performances here at the Lied Center of KU. If I could pick a show to see here, I would choose Fraggle Rock. Like this one that on January 2025 next year. Ever since I watched the show on video, I was this little as a kid. My dad said to me yesterday that I’m sure that I can get the chance to see Fraggle Rock on stage next year when I’m in Lawrence. True that. Anyway to continue, I’m gonna be planning seeing a performance show in the upcoming summer or the fall season. Whichever one I choose. I’m not what’s going right now, but I’ll keep myself updated on what’s playing here at the Lied Center. If I could look for a show to watch at the KU Lied Center, I’d go see Lyle Lovett perform for example. You know just to be sure. If you have any ideas to come up with for a show, let me kn...

Laugh Out Loud

Open Mic - a session in a club during which anyone is welcome to sing or perform stand-up comedy. Well if you’d like to know, then let me tell you about it. I heard that Murf’s Pub is open in Sunset West at 3115 W 6th St. and it even does comedy too. Maybe when I’m back in Lawrence Kansas, I might go there and do some open mic. I’m always in the mood for some laughs. One time I watched Lounge Lizards on Comedy Central once on cable TV, and I saw Rondell Sheridan on an episode of Lounge Lizard . He was really good at stand-up one time we were watching TV. I know plenty of places to go to in Lawrence Kansas, so here's a couple to name. The first thing I wanna do open mic is at the Jazzhaus. And since 1982, this place has been the home of the greatest musicians on planet Earth. If you still haven't noticed, it's in downtown Lawrence. But you already knew that, didn't you. I've been there once in the evening and I saw Carswell & Hope perform. It was really acousti...

Welcome back to my monthly blog, and today we're gonna talk about the most important topic I've been willing to learn about ever since I was in school. The History of Lawrence Kansas Let's get started, shall we? Lawrence Kansas was founded in 1854 and it's a city in and the county seat of the Douglas County community. It's also the sixth-largest city in the state. It is in the northeastern sector of the state, astride Interstate 70, between the Kansas and Wakarusa Rivers. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 94,934. It's even a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University. Lawrence was founded by the New England Emigrant Aid Company (NEEAC) and was named for Amos A. Lawrence, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, who offered financial aid and support for the settlement. Lawrence was central to the Bleeding Kansas period from 1854–1861, and the site of the Wakarusa War from 1855 and th...
