How To Flamenco

Image
Hello there folks, and welcome back to my monthly blog. Today's blog entry is a very extra special one. So please listen carefully. I was on The Lawrence Kansas Club on Facebook the other day and I found out about Flamenco Dance Classes at The Lawrence Dance Gallery which is in November this year by a friend of Meghan Collar named Melinda Hedgecorth. My next part of the plan is that when I come back to Lawrence Kansas, maybe I can make plans to learn some flamenco dancing with Melinda. That would be really appreciated for me to do that. Don’t you folks agree with me? Have you ever heard of flamenco before? If you haven’t yet, here’s the story about it. Flamenco  is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern  Spain , developed within the  gitano  subculture of the region of  Andalusia , and also having historical presence in  Extremadura and  Murcia . I know plenty of dances I learned when I was in high school. I...

The Roller Skating Rink

Image
Okay, before I start this next story. I wanna remind you that we’re on our way to the 50th blog entry. So keep your eyes peeled. Now, on with the show! There's this place that I went to when I was a kid. It was in Topeka and located at 815 SW Fairlawn Rd. That was when I went there during my school year at Cordley. That place is called Sk8away. That place was the greatest in the Topeka area. I remember my first time going there, and it was when I first learned how to roller skate. Somehow, I had a lot of trouble doing that. But in the future, I might be able to learn how to roller skate. The one other thing that I haven't tried in years was Heelys. The shoes with the wheels built in. That would be really cool for me to wear on a daily basis. If I were to learn how to use those, I'd roll anywhere in the neighborhood including downtown Lawrence. I would even learn how to roll with my Heelys here at the roller skating rink in Topeka. Anyway, the first time I went there was t...

Lights! Camera! Jayhawks!

The camera’s rolling… Places… Quiet on the set… And…action! My next blog entry is gonna be about film and media production at Summerfield Hall in KU. I’ve been looking up some info on the Film and Media Studies facilities on KU’s website, and I think that it’s a great idea to do some green screen footage here. When I’m back in Lawrence Kansas, I’ll get in contact with the people here in Summerfield Hall and talk to them in doing production for my next video projects. I might even get to do green screen clips for some special FX wipes, music videos, action shots, etc.  I can also get together for some video editing at the computer lab too. Why? Let’s just say that because I’m in the mood for getting my next video project started in the future. Folks, you’re gonna love the stuff they do here at FMS Facilities. This is gonna be fun though! Here’s the inside scoop on Summerfield Hall’s FMS Facilities. Soundstage There's a soundstage with with over 2700 sq/ft of production s...

Let’s Go Busker! [Plus, an update…]

Image
Ladies and gentlemen… may I introduce to you, the story about The Lawrence Busker Festival. That’s right, folks. It’s a  once-a-year-get-weird-weekend where you will find unusual entertainment all over historic downtown Lawrence. It happens every year in the month of May. It’s where you can  celebrate with a roster of street performers from all around the world. Magicians, jugglers, musicians, acrobats, and more will perform. It’s a full-on festival with food, libations, and fun around every corner. When was the first time I went there? Well it was the time I was at the library of course! I’ll never forget the time I once went there with my friend Stephanie. She and I had a really great time there. I even got my very own wax sculpture of my hand. I chose the peace sign though. It was off the hook, and I really hope that I’ll get to check out the Busker festival again once I come back to Lawrence. One time I went there, and I got to see Bongo Barry to perform outside. He...
