Trick Or Treat!
Halloween is just around the corner here in Lawrence. We’ve told you about trips to the Spirit Halloween store every October and having a Halloween party the first year when I return. And now we’re talk about the most important topic for October. Trick-or-Treating!
Okay, here’s my idea for when I’m back in Lawrence. When I finally have my new condo here in downtown Lawrence, I wanna do my part and give out candy to little kids.
If I can find the perfect costume for Halloween, I could go as Bob Ross. The last time went as Bob Ross, I wore the disco afro wig I used from the garage. Whenever I get a chance to go Spirit Halloween, I’ll pick the perfect Bob Ross costume. You know what Mr. Ross says.
“We don’t make mistakes, we have happy accidents.”
My dad and I were thinking about maybe looking for a Bob Ross costume for Halloween. And if it weren’t for this Halloween store that I love going to, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I will hope that there’s a Spirit Halloween store somewhere at a town near me.
Anyway, back to the part of my story.
Whenever I go trick-or-treating, I always remember to put on a costume of any kind I want to be. Like one time, we had a Halloween party at Free State High School, and Mr. Andrew and my friends really fit my Bob Marley costume. Yeah mon!
It was really fun here when I went as Bob Marley for Halloween that year.
One of my fondest memories I have is the time my dad and I went trick-or-treating in downtown Lawrence when I was a kid. I went has Chuckie Finster of the Rugrats.
I had everything for my costume. I had the shirt, the shorts, the shoes, the orange hair, and the glasses. And when I got the costume all set up, I wore it and it was just the perfect fit. If Nickelodeon would rate my costume, it would be a 10.
Okay, now for the good part. When I’m at my new condo in Lawrence, I have the perfect idea for my Halloween idea. Find a way to decorate the whole house full of spooky stuff to hang all over my living room. Perhaps maybe some strobe lights for lightning effects, AtmosFear digital projection effects on the walls or maybe for the windows, scary Halloween props, and maybe some blacklight for the room.
And trust me, this is gonna be really epic and completely scary. Whenever the kids find a house to trick-or-treat, I’ll scare them with some digital projection effects from AtmosFX. If you’d like to seek out more info on these projection effects for any other holiday occasions, you can check out AtmosFX.com.
This is gonna be fun once we get this all set up! And I’ll bet I can get somebody to help me with all of this. So what are you waiting for? Let’s do this!
I’ve been watching Halloween specials on TV for a long time ever since then. From Treehouse of Horror to Scaredy Pants, I can remember plenty of specials I love watching in my younger years. I even remember watching Halloween themed movies from back in the day. I remember watching the first ever Beetlejuice in Cinemark. It was really excitingly epic and hilarious in every way. And all I can say is…
“It’s showtime!”
Hey, this reminds me of something I haven’t done at Universal Studios Florida. I’ve thought about rocking and rolling with Beetlejuice at his live show attraction there. It’s really electrifying when he plays with his electric guitar! It’s kinda like when Paul Stanley of KISS smashes his guitar while rocking out. The end of the film was when the song ‘Jump In The Line’ by Harry Belafonte was playing. And it was really amazing to see. Who knows, maybe this Beetlejuice themed costume for next time give me an idea. I’ll think about that. I’ll bet Stephanie and David would like that. Anyway second movie I remember watching, Ghostbusters! I really loved that movie from the 80s. It was extra fun to the max! That song with the theme by Ray Parker Jr., and I’m telling you right now. I was in music class in Cordley and there was this spooky plush toy guy who taught us this song to sing and dance to, and this was just the beginning.
I remember when one of my friends from Cordley were wearing a Ghostbuster t-shirt, and everyone was impressed by that. Even Stephanie and I were listening to that song on the radio! It was double amazing!
Man, I’m starting to get the feeling that this is gonna be the greatest Halloween ever and I hope that we can make this work. And maybe kids starting knocking at my door, I can give out candy to them and maybe give them some surprises. Fingers crossed for that one!
I also remember seeing Goosebumps at the Cinemark one day. We all remember the books from R.L. Stine, and yes we even remember the series on TV on Saturday morning. And as always, you will beware, you’re in for a scare. The movie I saw in Cinemark was the second Goosebumps movie. It had Slappy in it! The dummy was legit.
The cast was incredible and Jack Black was rocking!
I even saw Hotel Transylvania once, and it was monsteriffic! Adam Sandler was a big hit in that movie, and so does an ensemble cast. Even The Addams Family too. Those two other movies were just…WOW! Exciting!
SHOWTIME!
Back in the day when Halloween was around the corner, I would take the time when Stephanie and I went exploring for Halloween and go to a party there. First off, we went down to the store to look for some things. We were looking around Dillon’s and there were plenty of bite size candies and chocolate too. Then we were about to go to a Halloween party together and have some fun. I’ll have to talk it out with Stephanie and David for a while and help me remember what else we did during Halloween. I hope that maybe she and I will get together this season for something special for us to do, that way we can both have a spooktacular time.
Moving on.
I once saw The Nightmare Before Christmas on video with my family, and Jack Skellington was absolutely cool in this spooky Disney flick. It was really awesome to check out in the 90s. We watched it when we lived in the Flintstone house in Lawrence. The song ‘This Is Halloween’ can be heard in a Halloween Mix that Stephanie made me. It’s really good scary Halloween fun for everyone.
Now here’s a couple of Halloween specials I’ve seen on TV.
Scaredy Pants is one of the most exciting SpongeBob episodes that I’ve seen in a long time. The first part was when Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob the tale of the Flying Dutchman here at The Krusty Krab. And when Squidward scares SpongeBob with his Flying Dutchman costume, he thought he was launching himself like a rocket and out of the restaurant. But I like the part where Patrick turns SpongeBob into a scary ghost costume. “Shave me down, make me round!” He said.
And when SpongeBob as the ghost of the Flying Dutchman goes out to scare everyone at the Krusty Krab, everyone thought that was Dutchman, but turns out that was SpongeBob all along. So the real Flying Dutchman came out and taught everyone a real lesson. Yikes!
But then, the funniest part happens when suddenly he scared everybody! And so the plan worked! So I gotta say that was the best SpongeBob Halloween episode I’ve watched for the very first time.
The next Halloween special I saw was from the Rugrats. I remember “Candy Bar Creep Show” before, but I know a Halloween crossover I remember watching. One that I did not see coming. “Ghost Story”!
It was that time when I watched the special in SNICK on Saturday. As I watched that episode, I couldn’t believe what I just saw. The Rugrats on a journey to find the attic. And then, I saw… AAHHH! REAL MONSTERS!
Yes that’s right, you know what I’m talking about! Ickis along with Krumm and Oblina. They were in that episode for a crossover. Isn’t that wild?
You should’ve see Angelica’s face when she got scared of the monsters.
The Nicktoons just keep getting better!
Note: If I were to watch that episode once again, I’d fall for it. Then, the monsters probably scare them away. Or just maybe play around and say hi. I don’t know. Maybe the Rugrats might come out to play for a while.
Oh, and there’s even this special episode of Camp Lazlo I saw that season. “Hallobeanies”!
That episode was off the heezy! I remember watching it when my family and I were living in the farm. My favorite part of the episode was when Lazlo, Raj, and Clam were going around Scoutmaster Lumpus’s cabin over and over again until he goes berserk! The broken leg part was even funnier though. Even when the bean scouts were eating all the candy and began acting really hyper. Yap yap yap yap yap yap!
And finally, there’s Halloween episodes of The Loud House and The Casagrandes that I remember watching.
“Tricked” and “New Haunts”.
If I can think of the few parts of this special episode, I can think of why Luna rocked out loud at Royal Woods with the family’s haunted maze attraction at their house. As a result, I can say it with this. You got tricked!
Now in the Casagrandes episode “New Haunts”, there was a scene I’ve seen before which inspired me. The kids along with Sid Chang did a dance that’s an homage to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Isn’t that exciting? It’s true! So if you can look closely at the comparison of these pictures, you can see the difference between it.
If you like shows like AAHHH! Real Monsters and Rocko’s Modern Life, then you might be really lucky. I even saw Rocket Power once, and it was supercool too.
Now before we wrap this up, I have yet another cool idea that would be really fun. Remember my trip to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City?
You see, I’ve been in the Halloween spirit for decades now and I can see it now. I know that this is always a start of another seasonal trend. So, the very next time you plan on something cool for Halloween especially in Lawrence Kansas, remember that there’s plenty more where all that came from. And if you wanna help me out on my next Halloween ideas, feel free to let me know in the comments below and we can talk more about this. Have a good scare and smile!
Okay folks, that’s it for now! Hope you have plenty of fun trick-or-treating this year, and don’t forget to check back later for another story on the next Lawrence Kansas Monthly Blog. Peace out and have a happy Halloween!
BOO!
