I Remember Wakarusa

Image
Hi, today we’re gonna talk about something that my dad and I remember going to in 2006. The Wakarusa Festival! It was a four-day music festival held annually in early June 2004 to 2015. Named for the Wakarusa River, the festival was first held here at Clinton State Park in Lawrence, Kansas. Then it was moved to its new location just outside Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Arkansas.  The festival is known for an eclectic mix of music and has featured artists like Grammy award winners The Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. They had really cool a ctivities besides music including disc golf, yoga, hiking, and swimming. Others have food vendors for getting some snacks, sodas, sno-cones, pizza, etc.  The festival grew dramatically from only 5,000 attendees at the initial 2004 Wakarusa to a record 20,000 in 2011.  After moving from Clinton Lake State Park in Lawrence, KS to Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, AR, the festival has continued to make a name for itself

My List of Things To Do Before I Move Back To Lawrence

Hey there folks, it’s me again! I know it’s too early for that but now would be a good time to talk about that. So as you may know, in five years from now or soon I’ll be moving back to Lawrence Kansas. So to start things off, I wanna review a list of things to do before I move back there. 1. Clean out the garage. When it comes to garage clean up, it gets really simple to think about. So for example, if I were to take down the old posters I don't want, I'd throw them away. Especially when they're worn out and a bit dirty. Just a bit of a thought. So I'd say look for dirty posters and throw them away or just recycle them. Secondly, I'm gonna take the time to find some things that were inside the garage for so long and find things that I wanna keep and things I don't want. In fact, it's like volunteering in your community. 2. Get organized. It takes a lot of time to save plenty of space when it comes to moving. In fact there’s plenty more where that came fro

My First Disney Trip

What you are about to hear is something that I remember 30 years ago. It all started right after school in the beginning of October 1994. That was when we first went to our trip to Disney World in Florida. I'll never forget my first trip. Here’s what happened the first time I was here. We got into a plane and we were headed to Florida. Then after the flight, we arrived in Orlando and got a place to stay at the Sunshine Foundation. As we got together and while everything was all set, we stayed at Elves’ Village. And guess what it had when we stayed in here! It had a swimming pool that’s “zero incline”, and there was a Keebler themed bedroom. I really love the setting in this dream village the foundation has. It had everything. A living room, a TV, a kitchen, EVERYTHING! I cannot believe my eyes and of what I’ve seen when we got in. I even saw Ernie Keebler making cookies on the wall art. It’s like I’m inside a Keebler tree. And all I could say is like…WOW! It’s really fun! And I s
